Kim Yo-jong Opposes South Korea-US Independent Sanctions
To Yoon: "Why Are You Just Watching a Fool?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] Kim Yo-jong, Vice Director of the Workers' Party of North Korea, lashed out at President Yoon Suk-yeol with harsh words in response to South Korea and the United States' push for independent sanctions against North Korea.
In a statement released on the 24th through the Korean Central News Agency, Vice Director Kim said, "I do not understand why the people of (South Korea) just stand by while the 'regime' led by Yoon Suk-yeol and those foolish idiots keep creating precarious situations." This not only shifts the responsibility for the heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula to the South but also provokes public opinion there, effectively urging opposition to the regime, which has been criticized as inappropriate.
She added, "Still, when Moon Jae-in was in power, at least Seoul was not our target," and warned, "The more the U.S. and South Korean lackeys desperately cling to sanctions and pressure against us, the greater our hostility and anger will grow, which will become a noose tightening around their own throats."
This indicates that since the inauguration of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, South Korea has been directly targeted, consistent with the declaration of preemptive nuclear strike intentions through the legalization of nuclear forces in September. Vice Director Kim also used harsh language to criticize President Yoon in August, opposing the Yoon administration's 'Bold Initiative,' even saying she "dislikes him as a person."
Kim Yo-jong stated, "On the 22nd, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled our exercise of self-defense rights as 'provocation' and blabbered about considering additional 'independent sanctions' as these actions continue," and criticized, "Seeing the disgusting spectacle of South Korean lackeys slavishly reciting every word as soon as the U.S. mentions 'independent sanctions' against North Korea makes it even clearer that they are the U.S.'s 'lapdogs' and lackeys with nowhere else to go."
She continued, "Every time I see those South Korean lackeys at play, I cannot help but be astonished," and harshly said, "South Koreans are nothing but stray dogs gnawing on the bones thrown by the U.S., so what on earth do they think they can 'sanction' us for? I've seen everything now, even the most ridiculous."
She further stated, "If the master and the lackey still cling to useless 'sanctions,' then by all means, try them a hundred or a thousand times," adding, "If they think fiddling with 'sanctions' will get them out of this precarious situation, they are truly foolish idiots. They are blockheads who do not know how to live safely and comfortably."
Lim Soo-seok, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on the 22nd, "As North Korea's provocations continue, we are also considering additional independent sanctions measures." Kim Yo-jong's statement came two days after the UN Security Council discussed North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch on the afternoon of the 22nd, which she condemned as a "clear double standard." As the younger sister of the supreme leader, Kim Yo-jong oversees diplomatic affairs related to South Korea and the U.S. and issues external messages whenever the occasion arises.
