The competition was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, hosted by the Korea Kinball Association, and featured over 60 teams and 700 students nationwide.
The Haeyeon Middle School Kinball team, coached by professional instructor Won Jae-in, has represented Busan for seven consecutive years at the competition. This team achieved runner-up for both boys and girls at this event, held for the first time in three years due to the impact of COVID-19.
Principal Seo Seok-geun said, "This runner-up achievement for both boys and girls is a valuable result made possible by the dedicated efforts of coach Won Jae-in and the one-team spirit of the students," adding, "We are proud of the students who brought honor to the school with their excellent performance and send them congratulations and encouragement."
Kinball is an indoor ball sport created in 1984 by Mario Demers in Quebec, Canada, where four players form a team and three teams?Black, Gray, and Pink?compete.
In Kinball, the attacking team calls out one of the two defending teams before attacking, and the called team must catch the ball using any part of their body before it touches the ground.
