Keynote Speech by Former Representative Namgung Hoon and Major Emergency Committee Members
"Application of Redundancy Measures in All Areas" and Introduction of Innovation Efforts
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao announced on the 23rd that it will hold an online developer conference covering all industries from finance to mobility, webtoons, games, and artificial intelligence (AI), called ‘If Kakao Dev 2022,’ from December 7 to 9.
Kakao explained that the sessions were organized with a focus on honestly reflecting on the shortcomings of this year and moving forward anew to create a better world through technology.
Starting with the keynote speech, over 120 developers from the Kakao community will serve as speakers, conducting a total of 106 presentation sessions across 12 tracks: ▲1015 Data Center Fire Retrospective ▲AI ▲Backend ▲Cloud ▲DevOps ▲Blockchain ▲Data ▲Frontend ▲Mobile ▲ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) ▲Culture ▲General.
On the first day of the event, four keynote speakers will present: Namgung Hoon, Go Woochan, co-chairs of the Kakao Emergency Response Committee’s Recurrence Prevention Subcommittee, Lee Hwakyung, chair of the Cause Investigation Subcommittee (CEO of Grep), and Lee Chaeyoung, head of the Technology Division. The keynote will analyze the causes of the service disruption due to the October 15 fire at the Pangyo SK C&C data center and disclose recurrence prevention measures including infrastructure investment plans.
Kakao will prioritize providing stable services and explain efforts such as cause identification, applying redundancy measures across all areas, investments, and engineering innovations.
On the second day, five special ‘1015 Retrospective’ sessions will be held to explain redundancy technologies in detail individually and share technical improvements. Additionally, about 50 presentations will be conducted, including ‘How Kakao Piccoma is Building Global Services’ by Heo Jun, team leader of the Platform Development Team at Kakao Piccoma, which recently achieved the number one app revenue in Japan, and ‘Digital Responsibility Implementation Cases for Sustainable Growth of the Kakao Community with Society’ by Kim Hyeil, Digital Accessibility Officer (DAO).
The final day will consist of about 50 technical presentations such as ▲‘Kakao Brain’s Text-Based Image Generation Technology’ ▲‘How Can Super Large AI Technology Be Utilized in Healthcare?’ ▲‘Development of New Connection Server for Kakao T Proxy Driver’ ▲‘Which Blockchain is Suitable for the Metaverse?’ as well as a separate meetup session introducing Kakao Pay’s growth process and work culture.
Lee Chaeyoung, head of Kakao’s Technology Division, said, “We plan to candidly share the concerns and technical experiences of Kakao community developers striving to overcome service limitations,” adding, “We will do our best to prepare so that If Kakao can be a platform for sharing technology to advance the IT technology ecosystem.”
