Dunamu Holds 1st ESG Management Committee Meeting... Appoints 3 External Members Including CEO Lee Mi-kyung

[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] Dunamu announced on the 22nd that it held the 1st ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Management Committee meeting on the 21st at its headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to discuss the current status of ESG management and future plans.

On the same day, Dunamu additionally appointed three external members: Lee Mi-kyung, CEO of the Environmental Foundation; Noh Sang-gyu, professor at Seoul National University’s College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Business; and Yoon Jong-soo, attorney at law firm Kwangjang.

Lee Mi-kyung, CEO of the Environmental Foundation, is recognized as a leading NGO activist in the environmental sector. Based on her expertise, Dunamu plans to accelerate the establishment of a full-fledged ESG environmental management strategy. Professor Noh Sang-gyu, an expert in economics and finance including blockchain and fintech, will actively participate in the ESG Management Committee to support Dunamu’s sustainable management. Attorney Yoon Jong-soo, a specialist at law firm Kwangjang, will provide diverse opinions on compliance management, investor protection, and healthy governance.

In April, Dunamu became the first cryptocurrency exchange to launch an ESG Management Committee composed of the CEO and six executives. To actively incorporate external perspectives from various social and environmental sectors, Dunamu explained that it has appointed additional external members. Going forward, the company plans to recruit experts from various social fields, including climate and environmental sectors, as external members.

With the committee’s composition now complete, the Dunamu ESG Management Committee will serve as the highest decision-making body related to ESG management, approving policies that may impact the company’s long-term value while also establishing the company’s future ESG strategies.

Song Chi-hyung, Chair of Dunamu’s ESG Committee, emphasized, “The core of ESG management is to identify and respond to ESG risks while promoting sustainable growth together with stakeholders.” He added, “Under the keywords ‘Tree, Youth, Investor Protection,’ Dunamu will help internalize ESG among its employees and lead the way in practicing sustainable management.”
