Busan Geumsa Middle School Operates Free Semester School Garden Program... Harvest Sales and Donation of Proceeds to Needy Neighbors Busan Geumsa Middle School's free semester school vegetable garden.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Geumsa Middle School in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, was selected for the "Free Semester School Garden Program" hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and supported by the National Urban Agriculture Manager Association, and conducted garden classes as elective courses during the second semester.

To operate the program, a healing garden was installed in the school's "Forest Carbon Offset Forest," where various curricular activities such as creating a garden, sowing autumn crops, and observing the cultivation process were carried out throughout the semester.

On the 18th, a bazaar was held to sell flower tea, pickles, and other products made from the garden's harvest, and the sales proceeds of 477,700 won were donated as charity funds to the Seo 3-dong Community Center to help neighbors in need.

Principal Changbo Oh of Geumsa Middle School said, "I hope the 'School Garden Program,' an essential education for the ecological environment, will expand further and become established as a free semester course in many schools."
