Korea Radio Promotion Association Collaborates on 'Digital Leading Company Academy' Project
Practical On-site Training Conducted in Partnership with Netflix Subsidiary
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Netflix is launching a program to train domestic special visual effects (VFX) experts. The subsidiary will conduct on-site practical training and further promote the hiring of outstanding talents by partner companies, creating a virtuous cycle of education, practice, and employment.
On the 22nd, Netflix announced that it will conduct a special visual effects (VFX) education program in collaboration with the Korea Radio Promotion Association. Netflix has been selected as the first global company to partner with the Korea Radio Promotion Association’s ‘Digital Leading Company Academy’ project. The Digital Leading Company Academy is part of the ‘K-Digital Training’ program conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, aimed at nurturing core digital practical talents.
Netflix will lead three educational courses: 2D VFX Artist, 3D VFX Artist, and Pipeline Developer training programs. The goal is to train more than 300 VFX artists in the immersive content sector by 2024. Netflix subsidiaries such as Scanline VFX, Westworld, VA Mofac, and other Netflix partner companies will also conduct on-site practical training linked to employment.
During the on-site practical training period, trainees will gain work experience and receive employment consulting as well as a performance incentive of 1.7 million KRW. They will also have the opportunity to be hired as outstanding talents by Netflix partner companies. Netflix regularly holds seminars and workshops to facilitate technology exchange with domestic creators and promote co-growth with the Korean creative ecosystem. In July, Netflix hosted the ‘Netflix Virtual Production Open House’ to share the latest video production technologies with experts in the domestic film and video sector, and regularly holds events to share the latest editing workflows and post-production know-how.
A Netflix representative said, “The global interest in K-content is becoming the foundation for Korean creators active in professional creative and production fields to enter the world stage,” adding, “We are pleased that this education program will have a positive impact on nurturing talent and creating jobs in the Korean creative ecosystem.”
The first phase of this program will be held for six months from December to June 2023 at the Korea Radio Promotion Association’s Mokdong office. Recruitment for the first phase will be open until December 7, and detailed information for application can be found on the official recruitment website of the Korea Radio Promotion Association.
