[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The opposition party has intensified its criticism toward the ruling party, calling it a "factory producing false rumor leaflets." This was a counterattack against the recent barrage of criticism from the ruling party leadership aimed at the opposition.

On the 18th, Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said at the party's Supreme Council meeting, "The People Power Party's conspiracy theories to change the narrative have now become routine," adding, "They try to cover up the president's incompetence and failures with conspiracy theories and collectively attack the Democratic Party like hyenas."

He continued, "Especially, the People Power Party's Emergency Response Committee Chairperson (Jeong Jin-seok), who will be prosecuted for absurd lies about the late former President Roh Moo-hyun's death, not only shows no remorse but also claimed yesterday that former President Moon Jae-in bribed North Korea," urging, "The People Power Party should stop their biting-style political sabotage."

He also criticized, "Last September, to suppress the controversy over President Yoon Seok-yeol's use of profanity, the Democratic Party floor leader was accused of colluding with MBC through lies, and there was a chaotic outcry that citizens voluntarily held candlelight rallies which the Democratic Party organized in response, but those claims have since disappeared," adding, "The expression used by opposition Supreme Council member Jang Kyung-tae, who pointed out First Lady Kim Keon-hee's diplomatic customs using official terminology, was twisted to the level of 'meongseokmari' and submitted to the Ethics Committee."

Regarding the Itaewon tragedy, he pointed out, "They are making unreasonable claims that the Democratic Party is an accomplice and immoral because an internet media outlet released the victim list," questioning, "Why is it that words understandable even to a child who has learned Hangul get twisted, distorted, and turned into conspiracy theories only when they reach the ears of the People Power Party?"
