[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Asiana Airlines announced on the 17th that it conducted a 'Flight Attendant Experience Course' for Japanese university students on the 17th.
Since the complete suspension of face-to-face education in 2020 due to COVID-19, programs for domestic educational institutions resumed last year. This 'Flight Attendant Experience Course' for Japanese university students, conducted alongside the revitalization of Japan routes, is the first in three years since 2019.
The first foreign-targeted 'Flight Attendant Experience Course' of this year, held at Asiana Airlines Training Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, enrolled 20 students from Okinawa International Resort College in Japan. All were aviation department students who actively participated in the classes, as they generally aspire to work in airlines or the tourism industry.
Notably, about 30 students from Okinawa International Resort College who previously participated in the flight attendant experience course have joined Japanese and foreign airlines as flight attendants, demonstrating that the program conducted by Asiana Airlines provides students with practical job experience opportunities and is highly preferred.
During the flight attendant experience course, students experienced ▲service trends and mindset courses ▲hairdo and makeup courses ▲walking and service role-play courses. Under the guidance of professional instructors, they had the opportunity to experience the training process that new cabin crew members actually receive after joining.
Yuyu Maezato, a student enrolled in Asiana Airlines’ flight attendant experience course, said, “As a student who has always dreamed of joining an airline, I thought this was a great opportunity and applied. Receiving training in excellent facilities made me feel like a real flight attendant, so I enjoyed it.”
Asiana Airlines plans to continue the program next year, starting with this experience course for Japanese university students. It is reported that about 650 students from 22 universities in Japan are scheduled to enroll.
An Asiana Airlines official said, “We hope that the resumption of this experience course for Japanese university students will serve as a foundation for the resumption of travel, education, and cultural exchange between Korea and Japan.”
Meanwhile, Asiana Airlines conducts flight attendant experience courses for aspiring flight attendants as part of its talent donation efforts. Since the first course in 2002, about 36,000 students have completed the Asiana Airlines flight attendant experience course. The systematic classes led by professional instructors have been well received by schools both domestically and internationally.
