Soup Convenience Food Sales Increase by 47%

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 17th that it will hold a discount event on soup-based convenience foods such as guk, tang, and jjigae until the 30th of this month.

According to Homeplus, sales of soup-based convenience foods increased by 47% compared to the same period last year from the 27th of last month to the 9th of this month. It is expected that demand for soup-based convenience foods will increase further as the full winter season begins.

Homeplus will also launch new soup-based convenience foods, 'Pulmuone Dubu Jjambbong' and 'Chodang Sundubu.' Pulmuone Dubu Jjambbong is a product collaborated between Homeplus and Pulmuone, which underwent more than 20 taste improvement tests. Dried Pulmuone tofu is added in large flakes to maximize the tofu flavor, and the spicy and savory flavor is exceptional with tofu added to the smoky jjambbong.

Chodang Sundubu is newly introduced by changing the packaging from a bag, which has been maintained for 40 years, to a container type. It uses seawater without additional seasoning to provide a savory taste. It can be easily heated using a microwave, and the container packaging extends the shelf life from 7 days to 15 days, while also making separation for recycling easier, enhancing customer convenience.
