[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Shim Deok-seop) announced on the 17th that it recently successfully concluded the ‘6th Artists' Night’ event at Renaissance Wedding Hall.
Hosted by the Korean Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations Gochang Branch (President Park Jong-eun), this ‘Gochang Artists' Night’ was organized as a gathering for local cultural artists to showcase their talents, featuring members from Gochang Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations and its five affiliated associations (Literary Association, Fine Arts Association, Music Association, Korean Traditional Music Association, and Theater Association).
The event featured performances including live calligraphy, Korean traditional dance, poetry recitation, and an ocarina-saxophone ensemble, providing enjoyment to the audience.
At the subsequent awards ceremony, poet Pyo Soon-bok received the ‘Gochang Artist Award,’ former Gochang Nongak Preservation Society Chairman Lee Myung-hoon was honored with the ‘Gochang Disabled Artist Award,’ and textile artist Kwon Ae-ran was awarded the ‘Gochang Artistic Merit Award.’
Poet Pyo Soon-bok, the recipient of the ‘19th Gochang Artist Award,’ debuted in the monthly magazine ‘Korean Poetry’ and published poetry collections such as ‘Muttering on an Ordinary Day’ and ‘Going to the Tree.’ She served as the 9th president of the Gochang Literary Association and has been active as a member of the Korean Writers' Association, National Writers' Association, Jeonbuk Poetry Association, and Expression Literature, significantly contributing to the development of Gochang literature.
Lee Myung-hoon, the recipient of the ‘1st Gochang Disabled Artist Award’ and former chairman of the Gochang Nongak Preservation Society, is a master of Gochang Nongak, designated as Jeollabuk-do Intangible Cultural Property No. 7-6, and has served as the director of the Gochang Nongak Transmission Center, dedicating himself to the preservation and development of Gochang Nongak.
Kwon Ae-ran, representative of textile art and recipient of the ‘2022 Gochang Artistic Merit Award,’ has worked as an art instructor for elementary and middle schools, a color art psychology instructor at the Gochang Youth Welfare Center, and as the deputy head of the Korean Fine Arts Association Gochang branch, injecting vitality into the development of Gochang art.
Governor Shim Deok-seop stated, “The passionate breath of artists is a precious asset that will illuminate our Gochang and is a great force in achieving a vibrant Gochang where all residents are happy. We ask that you continue to work with unwavering passion to promote the development of local arts and culture in Gochang and to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment among residents.”
