Opening in Yongsan Following Yeongdeungpo, Geumcheon, and Mapo... Fostering Young Digital Talent
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The fourth campus of the "Youth Employment Academy," which has become a "youth job solution expert" with more than 70% of its graduates successfully employed, is opening in Yongsan.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 17th, the newly opened Yongsan campus is the fourth campus following Yeongdeungpo, Geumcheon, and Mapo campuses. It will operate as a comprehensive campus offering both Software Development (SW) and Digital Transformation (DT) courses, training 180 digital youth talents annually.
Applicants apply through the Youth Employment Academy website, where their basic knowledge in the education field and employment motivation are verified and selected through documents and interviews. All courses are provided free of charge. The education is conducted by specialized institutions selected through a public contest. The software (SW) development courses include six tracks in cloud, fintech, app, web, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things & robotics fields, while the DT courses include two tracks in UI/UX design, web design, and publishing, totaling eight courses.
It has been proven that simply completing the high-quality courses of the Youth Employment Academy gives job seekers a competitive edge. Currently, among 325 graduates who completed the software development course at Yeongdeungpo campus and the digital transformation course at Geumcheon campus and received job linkage support, 246 (75.7%) have succeeded in employment or entrepreneurship.
In particular, beyond digital practical education, job coordinators are connected to help trainees find jobs in their desired roles and sectors. Comprehensive support from company discovery to employment counseling and linkage is provided for employment and entrepreneurship. Including the newly opened Yongsan campus, 870 trainees are currently enrolled. Continuous support is provided not only during training but also after graduation to help youth find the jobs they want.
Seoul City announced that new campuses will sequentially open in Gangdong, Gangseo, and Dongjak by the end of the year, training a total of 1,150 digital field on-site practical talents across seven Youth Employment Academy locations. Gangdong campus will operate as a comprehensive campus (SW and DT fields), while Gangseo and Dongjak will be specialized campuses (DT field), offering a total of 10 courses for 280 trainees. Applications are currently being accepted on the website.
Hwang Bo-yeon, Director of Seoul City’s Economic Policy Office, said, “The Youth Employment Academy provides companies with on-site talents and offers customized employment solutions to young job seekers based on ‘high-quality courses’ and a ‘detailed employment and entrepreneurship support’ system.” He added, “By 2025, we will open one Youth Employment Academy in each autonomous district to help young talents secure digital expertise and strengthen their employment competitiveness.”
