[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Kim Hyun-ki, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, said on the 16th, "We must further develop Seochon, which well embodies the 600-year identity of Seoul."

Chairman Kim made these remarks during a congratulatory speech at the '2022 Seoul Future Forum' hosted by Asia Economy, held at Maehwa Hall on the 19th floor of the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, under the theme "The Future of Seoul, The Future of Seochon."

Chairman Kim also mentioned the romance of Seochon by reciting a verse from the poet Yun Dong-ju's "Foreword." He said, "Poet Yun Dong-ju lived in Seochon and wrote precious poems," adding, "Seochon is a romantic place that many citizens want to visit."

He emphasized, "Recently, interest in Seochon Village has increased due to the relocation of the Blue House," and added, "I hope a sustainable future vision for Seochon will continue to be drawn."

Chairman Kim said, "Many foreign tourists visit Seochon to glimpse the urban history of Seoul," and stated, "The Seoul Metropolitan Council will also continue to show interest and provide support so that Seochon becomes a space that everyone can empathize with and enjoy."

He continued, "There is a department in Seoul City responsible for hanok," and declared, "Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Council will provide full support through the budget."
