[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The LINC 3.0 Project Group of Dongseo University recently received the Minister of Education Award in two categories at the ‘2022 Industry-Academia Cooperation EXPO’ held at Suwon Convention Center.
Dongseo University received the Minister of Education Award in the technology cooperation category of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Best Practice Competition for the project titled ‘Win-Win Project between AI Startups and Mid-sized Fashion Companies: Development and Department Store Application of AI Fashion Smart Mirror.’
The AI Fashion Smart Mirror is a personalized service product that uses artificial intelligence to analyze the user's outfit, recommend products, and provide store location information. It was jointly developed by Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, AI-based platform developers Samatdi and Seoreu, and the Busan-based shopping mall Art Malling.
The project was evaluated as revitalizing the local market, which had been stagnant due to changes in the distribution environment, fostering convergence-type talents through the problem-solving process, and leading regional retail innovation and coexistence between the region and enterprises.
Additionally, in the industry-academia cooperation meritorious person category, Professor Yoon Chang-won of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications at Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, who oversees the planning and operation of employment support programs, received the Minister of Education Award.
Professor Yoon was recognized for his contributions to establishing an employment support foundation by leading student-tailored career guidance and activation of employment programs, and for fostering specialized personnel that meet industry demands, thereby helping the employment support system take root in both schools and companies.
Hwang Ki-hyun, head of Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, “Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group will strive for continuous win-win cooperation between academia and industry by jointly promoting not only technology development but also human resource development.”
This EXPO, hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea, was prepared to share excellent achievements created jointly by academia and industry and to spread the culture of industry-academia cooperation.
