[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit announced on the 11th that its sales in the third quarter of this year reached 4.4 billion KRW, bringing it closer to achieving an annual sales record of 10 billion KRW for the first time.
Lunit disclosed on the 11th that its third-quarter sales amounted to 4.44564 billion KRW, approximately four times higher than the 1.14377 billion KRW recorded in the same period last year. In particular, overseas sales surged to 4.076 billion KRW, about 8.5 times higher than the previous year. The proportion of overseas sales also increased to 91.7%. However, the company recorded an operating loss of 9.83766 billion KRW and a net loss of 17.26569 billion KRW.
On an annual basis, cumulative sales reached 9.92329 billion KRW, 1.5 times the total annual sales of 6.6 billion KRW last year. As a result, Lunit's annual sales this year are expected to exceed 10 billion KRW for the first time in its history. The cumulative operating loss was 36.9649 billion KRW, and the net loss was 23.734 billion KRW.
Lunit explained, "The results of partnerships with global major medical device companies such as GE Healthcare, Philips, and Fujifilm are gradually emerging," adding, "The AI imaging analysis solution product line 'Lunit Insight,' first launched in 2019, surpassed 1,000 medical institutions worldwide last month, 3 years and 6 months after its release, leading to a significant increase in overseas sales."
Seobeomseok, CEO of Lunit, said, "Achieving sales close to 10 billion KRW is rare not only for Lunit but also in the global medical AI market," and added, "In the fourth quarter, as demand for health checkups increases significantly and medical institutions renew annual contracts, sales concentration is expected to occur, so we anticipate a substantial increase in sales growth."
