AI-Written and Featuring a Digital Actor: Horror Film Coming... Dongseo University Screens 'AI Scenario' Horror Drama 'Mr. A' Poster.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] What? The scenario was written by artificial intelligence, and the cast consists of digital actors!

University students are collaborating with AI companies to produce and present such a drama.

Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) announced on the 10th that it will screen a drama using an AI-generated scenario and virtual digital actors. The screening event is scheduled to be held on the 11th at 11 a.m. in Sohyang Art Hall on the 2nd floor of the New Millennium Building at Dongseo University.

The event will begin with video congratulatory messages from Dongseo University President Jang Je-guk and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency Director Jeong Moon-seop. The university president’s video message will be delivered by a virtual digital human who looks exactly like the president, created using artificial intelligence.

The drama is titled “Mystery Miss A.” It consists of four episodes totaling 15 minutes and is a horror drama based on an AI-generated scenario.

This event is a collaboration with Pulse9 Co., Ltd., a graphic AI specialist company, where 19 trainees produced four virtual actors using AI over approximately six months of training and created a drama based on an AI-generated scenario to be screened at the event.

Dongseo University provided education to enable trainees to utilize artificial intelligence. Pulse9 designed virtual characters resembling actors using AI, and the trainees implemented more realistic actors in 3D CG using AI. Additionally, the drama scenario was completed using artificial intelligence.

This event was made possible by Dongseo University being reselected for the 2022 AI-Linked Content Creator Talent Development Project, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency.

This year, Dongseo University’s Software-Centered University Support Project Team supported the initiative, focusing on AI+Content convergence education, yielding fruitful results. Since 2021, this marks the second time innovative content utilizing AI technology has emerged in the cultural and artistic content field.

Kim Ki-hong, head of Dongseo University’s AI-Linked Content Creative Talent Development Project Team, said, “We plan to continue collaborating with specialized companies using virtual digital actors, a convergence result of AI and various content fields, to develop new content for show programs.”

Kim added, “We plan to create an AI-based content production education platform so that more students and companies can gain experience, introducing a new content production paradigm to the content industry.”
