'The Newly Created Great Ulsan', Launch of the City Policy Advisory Committee

Over 110 Representatives from Various Social Strata and Civil Experts

Providing Proposals and Advisory Roles on Major City Policies and Current Issues

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City will hold the launch ceremony of the ‘Ulsan City Policy Advisory Committee,’ which will play a major role in realizing the ‘Great Ulsan Newly Created,’ at 4:30 PM on the 10th in the Grand Ballroom Hall of Munsu Convention.

The launch ceremony will be attended by a total of about 130 people, including 106 policy advisory committee members composed of citizen representatives and experts from various fields such as university professors, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and civic groups, 8 policy aides, and 13 related public officials including Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom.

The launch ceremony event will proceed in the order of electing 1 chairman, 2 vice chairmen, and 8 subcommittee chairmen, reporting on the committee composition and operation plan by the city’s supervising department, awarding appointment letters, and holding subcommittee meetings.

The term of office for the committee members is 2 years, with the possibility of one reappointment, and their role is to propose and advise on major city policies and current issues.

The meetings will be operated as plenary sessions, subcommittees, and an executive committee.

The plenary sessions will be held twice a year regularly, and the subcommittees and executive committee will be convened as needed.

The subcommittees are divided into eight categories: ▲Economy, Industry, and Labor ▲Urban Transportation and Construction ▲Culture, Tourism, and Sports ▲Welfare and Health ▲Environment and Greenery ▲Safety, Firefighting, and Police ▲Administration and Autonomy ▲Planning and Finance, and all members belong to and participate in activities within their respective subcommittees.

The executive committee is composed of the chairman, vice chairmen, and subcommittee chairmen to prepare for plenary sessions and facilitate opinion exchange among subcommittees.

Eight appointed policy aides also participate in the committee to activate the Policy Advisory Committee and provide professional advice.

To supplement the shortcomings of the existing Future Vision Committee, the city enacted the ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Policy Advisory Committee Composition and Operation Ordinance’ on September 8 and prepared the committee’s formation.

Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, “I expect the Policy Advisory Committee to take the lead for the ‘Great Ulsan Newly Created,’” and added, “I will work hard to complete the proud city of Ulsan together with the Policy Advisory Committee.”
