[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] BNGT is showing strength following news of African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in Gangwon Province. BNGT is attracting buying interest as it was the first in Korea to successfully develop pigs resistant to epidemic diarrhea.
As of 10:40 AM on the 10th, BNGT is trading at 2,840 KRW, up 6.17% compared to the previous trading day.
According to Gangwon Province on this day, African Swine Fever was detected in Cheorwon-gun. This is 52 days after the outbreak at a pig farm in Chuncheon in September. Approximately 5,449 pigs are raised at the infected farm, and within a 10 km quarantine zone, there are 24 pig farms raising a total of 61,693 pigs.
Gangwon Province urgently issued a temporary movement suspension order for 24 hours starting from 11:30 PM on the 9th across five border regions including Cheorwon, Hwacheon-gun, Inje-gun, Yanggu-gun, and Goseong-gun.
In the related industry, there have been cases of treating African Swine Fever by replacing genes related to pig infection. In particular, researchers at the Roslin Institute in the UK succeeded in creating pigs resistant to viral diseases by manipulating genes using CRISPR-Cas9.
Meanwhile, BNGT possesses third-generation CRISPR gene-editing technology. BNGT was the first in Korea to successfully develop pigs resistant to epidemic diarrhea and has obtained a patent for the method of producing epidemic diarrhea-resistant pigs.
