Homeplus announced on the 10th that it will exclusively import and sell two types of frozen croissant dough produced with the same recipe as the British representative bakery brand 'Pret A Manger' for the first time in Korea.
Pret A Manger, which means 'Ready to Eat' in French, is a British representative bakery cafe brand easily found throughout London. It operates about 550 stores across 11 countries on three continents including Europe, the United States, and Asia. Locally in the UK, it is often shortened to 'Pret.' Pret A Manger offers more than 50 types of bakery items such as croissants and sandwiches, as well as a variety of menus including salads, soups, coffee, and juices.
Homeplus exclusively imports and introduces two types of frozen croissant dough made with the same recipe as the bakery products sold at Pret A Manger stores: 'Pret A Manger Butter Croissant' and 'Pret A Manger Chocolate Croissant.' To celebrate the exclusive domestic launch, these products will be sold at a discounted price of 1,000 won until the 30th of this month.
Choi Hee-joo, buyer of the PBGS Food Team at Homeplus, said, "We have directly imported frozen dough from Pret A Manger, known as the national bakery of the UK," adding, "We expect these newly imported exclusive products to fully satisfy domestic bakery customers whose standards have risen."
Meanwhile, in addition to Pret A Manger frozen dough, Homeplus will also exclusively import four types of frozen convenience foods from Iceland, the UK's largest frozen food specialist company, for the first time in Korea. Starting from the 17th, these will be exclusively launched at nine nationwide 'Homeplus Mega Food Market' stores. These products were developed in collaboration with the famous restaurant brand 'TGI Fridays' to allow customers to enjoy TGI's popular menu items at home as frozen convenience foods. The four items include TGI Mozzarella Sticks, TGI Shrimp Fries, TGI Macaroni Cheese Bites, and TGI Cheese Festa Pizza.
