[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Woori Financial Group is establishing a new organization to serve as a 'control tower' that formulates and drives strategies in the data and artificial intelligence (AI) fields at the group level.

On the 10th, Woori Financial Group announced that it has set up the 'DI (Data Intelligence) Planning Department' within the holding company's digital division. The purpose is to strengthen the group's capabilities in data and AI swiftly and systematically and to respond strategically.

The DI Planning Department will oversee the integration, analysis, and utilization of group data as well as AI business strategies. It will be composed of internal personnel along with external experts who have extensive experience in building company-wide data governance, promoting AI and big data convergence projects, and big data-based marketing.

Going forward, the group plans to continuously promote projects that integrate, manage, and analyze valuable data assets both inside and outside the group so that data technology can become a core competency of the group.

Additionally, Woori Bank will establish a 'DI Planning Act' directly under the DI Promotion Headquarters. All department heads and staff in this organization will concurrently serve in the holding company's 'DI Planning Department.' This unified organizational system between the holding company and the bank will enable faster execution of business tasks from planning to implementation.

Son Tae-seung, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, stated, "The newly established DI Planning Department through this organizational restructuring will become a key department overseeing the group's data and AI. Moving forward, we will expand our scope in various areas such as mid- to long-term data and AI strategy formulation, establishing a group-wide data analysis foundation, and responding to domestic and international trends and policy changes."
