High Pathogenic AI Confirmed at Cheongju Quail Farm... Total of 8 Cases Confirmed

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] A case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been confirmed at a quail farm in Cheongju, Chungbuk. The number of AI confirmed cases at farms has increased to eight this fall.


The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (AI) announced on the 9th that the infection case at the quail farm in Cheongju was confirmed to be highly pathogenic (H5N1 type). The farm has been raising 498,000 quails.


Meanwhile, the headquarters is investigating whether the AI H5 antigen detected at a breeding duck farm in Cheonan, Chungnam, is highly pathogenic. The farm raises 7,700 ducks.


The headquarters has implemented access control, culling, and epidemiological investigations at the farm. Additionally, from 7 p.m. on the same day, a 24-hour temporary movement ban order was issued for poultry farms, livestock facilities, and vehicles in Chungnam, as well as duck farms, facilities, and vehicles nationwide.
