[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Four students majoring in Architecture at Pukyong National University were selected as awardees, including the Grand Prize, at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's ‘2022 Korea Architecture Culture Awards’.

Student Jo Myung-hoon recently submitted his work ‘ART'RIUM (Art'rium)’ to the Korea Architecture Culture Awards and received a prize of 2 million KRW along with the Grand Prize in the Student Design Competition category.

This award-winning work was designed as an open storage facility on the customs site located in Jung-gu, Busan, serving as a gateway and hub for local culture and arts, earning high praise.

Student Jo Myung-hoon proposed a building that fuses the concept of storage with exhibition, inspired by the fact that artworks in art galleries or museums are only partially displayed while most are kept in storage.

He placed the storage space at the center and arranged shared spaces such as studios, cafes, and lounges around it. The tiered storage space in the form of stairs was designed so that it can be viewed from the shared spaces without directly passing through the interior.

The shared spaces were composed as linear spaces offering simultaneous views of the city and the coast.

Kim Hyung-min, a student majoring in Architecture, received a prize of 1 million KRW and an Excellence Award for his design plan of a recyclable agricultural wholesale market titled ‘CASA DE CABBAGE’, considering redevelopment.

Additionally, students Park Jae-hyun and Kim Su-yong from the same major were selected as finalists with their works ‘FOOD GROUND’ and ‘Seokgwan-dong Memory Repository’, respectively.

Pukyong National University also achieved excellent results by producing Grand Prize winners at the ‘2020 Korea Architecture Culture Awards’.
