[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT Cloud announced on the 9th that it has launched ‘Serverless Code·App Run,’ a service that provides program and service development, deployment, and infrastructure management all in one service type, allowing developers to focus solely on development.
The company explained that it is the first in the industry to integrate Function as a Service (FaaS) and Backend as a Service (BaaS), which previously existed separately for development, deployment, and management, into a single service.
FaaS is a platform service that allows easy development by utilizing provided functions without having to build or maintain complex underlying infrastructure during program development. BaaS standardizes common server management functions after program deployment and provides management services such as data storage and analysis, traffic, and user management.
Until now, developers had to build physical environments such as servers themselves and directly perform service development, deployment, and infrastructure operation and management, which resulted in significant time, cost, and management burdens. Even when using cloud services instead of on-premises setups, developers had to use development services (FaaS) and deployment/management services (BaaS) separately, causing inconvenience and still requiring developers to participate in management or hire separate management personnel.
‘Serverless Code·App Run’ eliminates management burdens entirely by having KT Cloud handle deployment, monitoring, logging, traffic, and various infrastructure management tasks once developers develop and provide programs on the platform. It offers a platform and functions that enable development, deployment, and management without servers in a single service, drastically reducing the burden on developers and improving their work efficiency and convenience.
The strengths of ‘Serverless Code·App Run’ include ▲ enhanced security through container isolation, ▲ integrated UI/UX and management convenience, and ▲ cost efficiency. To defend against container security breaches, it applies lightweight VM (Virtual Machine)-based ‘container isolation’ technology to increase safety. Additionally, security is strengthened by allowing authentication options and token regeneration for URLs accessing containers.
Furthermore, both ‘Code Run’ and ‘App Run’ apply the same UI/UX to provide functions such as development, deployment, monitoring, and security management in one view, visualizing necessary data to enhance work convenience. Moreover, users do not need to manage traffic for application versions; the number of containers is dynamically adjusted according to the number of users and usage, and unnecessary containers are terminated to reduce costs.
KT Cloud is offering a benefit of free usage for three months to commemorate the launch of ‘Serverless Code·App Run.’
