KT Engineering Targets Data Center Development Market in Honam Region

Business Agreement with Dohwi, Haneul General Construction, and GA Construction

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT Engineering, a green information and communication technology (ICT) engineering specialist company under KT Group, is teaming up with a comprehensive real estate development and construction company in the Honam region to target the data center, environmental, and renewable energy industrial facility development markets.

On the 9th, KT Engineering announced that it signed a 'business agreement' with three companies?Dohwi, Haneul General Construction, and GA Construction?for the 'development of data centers, environmental, and renewable energy industrial facilities.'

The three companies are comprehensive real estate development and construction specialists based in the Honam region, engaged in apartment (Edga Chaeum, GA Greenwell), hotel, resort, and complex cultural district development and construction projects. They have high consumer recognition in the Jeonnam, Jeju, and Chungnam areas.

According to this business agreement, each company will mutually cooperate in entering the Honam regional market for industrial facility development projects related to data centers, environment, and renewable energy, as well as in planning for facility construction and operation. KT Engineering will oversee the industrial facility development projects, including design and construction work, while the three companies will be responsible for land acquisition, permits, and investment attraction for facility construction.

KT Engineering has been expanding its data center construction business. Starting with the KT Gimhae Data Center construction project in 2011, it has participated in KT's core data center new construction and remodeling projects such as Mokdong IDC 2 Center and Yongsan IDC, gaining experience in the construction of specialized buildings. Last year, it was selected as the preferred negotiator for the 'Syntekabio AI Supercomputer New Construction Project' as part of the KT consortium.

It has also built expertise in the 'environment and energy' sector. Since 2009, it has participated in various local government public projects such as 'solar and other renewable energy facility construction,' 'regional energy new industry activation support projects,' and the 'Ministry of Environment Smart Green City Project.' Earlier this year, it formed business partnerships with leading domestic and international environment and energy companies such as Veolia and KC Holdings to expand the market.
