[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] CJ Feed & Care, an independent feed and livestock subsidiary of CJ CheilJedang, announced on the 9th that it has launched an eco-friendly organic fertilizer called 'ECO POWER1' made from pig manure in Vietnam.
Recently, the Vietnamese fertilizer market has seen a rapid increase in demand for eco-friendly organic fertilizers due to changing consumer awareness of environmental pollution and the government's strengthening of livestock environmental regulations. ECO POWER1 is an organic fertilizer biologically matured using microorganisms to naturally ferment pig manure. Unlike organic fertilizers sold in Vietnam, it is produced through a maturation process that decomposes and stabilizes livestock manure via microbial reactions. Unmatured manure emits ammonia gas and pathogenic microorganisms that have not been eliminated can multiply again, potentially causing adverse effects on crops and the environment.
This new product boasts excellent quality, having received certification from the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Fertilizer Testing Center for all processes including production, sales, and distribution of organic fertilizers. Considering the rising popularity of Korean Wave culture and K-food, the outer packaging includes the label "Organic fertilizer made with Korean technology." CJ Feed & Care plans to first increase the recycling rate of manure resources in the Vietnamese livestock market to expand demand for eco-friendly organic fertilizers, and then expand to neighboring Southeast Asian countries.
A CJ Feed & Care official stated, "We will contribute to the development of Vietnam's environment and crop quality by converting waste resources that negatively impact the environment into eco-friendly products," adding, "We will continue to strive to develop high-quality functional fertilizers from an ESG perspective."
