District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho Signs Donation Application for 100,000 Won Monthly, Becomes Seoul District Mayor No.1 'Sharing Leader'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held a proclamation ceremony for the ‘200 Household Care Project’ on the 8th in collaboration with the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation.
The ‘200 Household Care Project’ is a welfare initiative under the 8th local government administration that identifies and manages vulnerable households who are protected under current laws and systems but face difficulties due to insufficient living expenses or urgently need help but do not receive appropriate assistance.
The target households receive regular financial support ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 KRW per month until their difficulties are resolved.
The proclamation ceremony, held at the Gwangjin-gu Office Mayor’s Office, was attended by Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation, and others.
After a brief tea meeting, Mayor Kim and the attendees declared the start of the ‘200 Household Care Project.’
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin-gu said, “The ‘200 Household Care Project’ in Gwangjin-gu, benchmarked from Seodaemun-gu’s ‘100 Household Care Project,’ is a program prepared to provide more systematic support to 200 households, including existing case management targets. The core is to continuously support the target households until their difficulties are resolved.”
Anyone from the district office, community service centers, social welfare facilities, or Gwangjin residents can discover and recommend candidates for the ‘200 Household Care Project’ and become sponsors.
The candidates are selected through on-site reality checks by welfare planners at the respective community service centers and in-depth review committee meetings.
Along with the proclamation ceremony, the Seoul Community Chest of Korea delivered 40 million KRW in project funds supported by the ‘Vulnerable Group Safety Line Protection Project’ to the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation. The foundation plans to use this as support funds for the ‘200 Household Care Project’ beneficiaries.
The district started the project this year targeting 150 households and plans to expand the project annually with the goal of supporting 200 households.
Mayor Kim signed a donation pledge form hosted by the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, committing to donate 100,000 KRW monthly. Accordingly, he became the first Seoul district mayor to earn the title of ‘Sharing Leader,’ awarded to those who donate over 1 million KRW annually.
