[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hyundai Engineering announced on the 7th that it will conduct the non-face-to-face step donation social contribution activity "Exciting Steps Campaign 6" in collaboration with the social impact platform BigWalk.
The campaign will run until the 20th and is open to not only employees but also the general public. The goal for the number of steps in this campaign is set at 700 million steps.
The campaign proceeds by donating the steps measured after installing the BigWalk application to the Hyundai Engineering campaign, and when the target number of steps is achieved, support items are delivered to vulnerable housing groups, specifically residents of Seoul's jjokbang (small room) communities.
Since the first campaign in 2020, more than 66,000 employees and general participants have joined, collecting a total of over 3.4 billion steps, which were used to provide cold-weather clothing, electric mats, and various food supplies to jjokbang residents.
This time, supplies to prepare for the severe cold will be delivered to jjokbang residents in five Seoul areas: Changsin-dong, Donui-dong, Namdaemun, Seoul Station, and Yeongdeungpo.
A Hyundai Engineering official said, "The Exciting Steps Campaign received great support from employees and the general public because it allows people to help neighbors in need easily and enjoyably in a non-face-to-face way. With the lifting of social distancing measures, we will also continue the face-to-face volunteer activities for employees that we have been promoting."
