[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Park Byung-gyu) announced on the 7th that it will promote the ‘Gwangju Bitchandeul Rice’ purchasing campaign to help local farmers struggling with falling rice prices.
According to Gwangsan-gu on the 7th, Park Byung-gyu, mayor of Gwangsan-gu, pledged to take the lead in the ‘Gwangju Rice Purchasing Campaign’ at the general meeting held that day.
In particular, the campaign plans to actively encourage consumption by promoting the excellence of Bitchandeul Rice not only to citizens but also to companies, related organizations, and social groups within Gwangsan-gu, suggesting that holiday gifts or return gifts be made with Gwangju Bitchandeul Rice.
Gwangsan-gu will continue the Gwangju Bitchandeul Rice purchasing campaign from that day until the end of the year, while also striving to discover and implement various support policies for local farmers.
Mayor Park said, “Rice remains the center of our food culture and the root of Korean life,” adding, “We will seek various measures to promote rice consumption and create a sustainable agricultural ecosystem so that local farmers and agriculture do not falter.”
Meanwhile, ‘Bitchandeul Rice’ is milled with the latest machines and equipment at the Gwangju Integrated RPC (Rice Processing Complex), newly relocated and established in Bonryang-dong in October 2021.
Because it is dried at an appropriate temperature, it has good stickiness and gloss, and since it is milled and delivered on the day of order, its taste is excellent. For bulk purchases of Bitchandeul Rice, inquiries can be made to the Gwangju Integrated RPC.
