[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The largest musical awards ceremony in Korea, the ‘Korea Musical Festival - 7th Korean Musical Awards,’ will be held on January 16 next year at the ‘LG Arts Center Seoul LG SIGNATURE Hall.’

At the ‘Awards,’ a total of eighteen individuals (teams) will be honored across three categories: works, actors, and creation. This year, there have been changes in the Korean Musical Awards Grand Prize, Best Script, and Best Music - Best Composition categories. For the Grand Prize, the previous distinction based on audience capacity of 400 seats or more has been removed, and only newly premiered original works are eligible as nominees. For the Best Script and Best Music - Best Composition awards, nominees can be registered regardless of whether the work is a premiere, as long as they are the writers or composers of original works. Additionally, the special Achievement Award is given annually to individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to the musical industry. The Audience Award is presented to the audience member who has watched the most musical performances throughout the year.

Registration for nominations in each category will be accepted until midnight on the 16th. Nominees must be performances produced directly by members of the Korea Musical Association, and eligible works are musicals that opened (or are scheduled to open) in Korea between December 1 of last year and December 4 of this year. During this period, the work must have been performed for at least seven days or have at least fourteen paid performances, including both original and licensed works.

Musical production companies and performance groups wishing to register nominees should check the announcement posted on the ‘Association’ website and submit the required documents via email.
