"Design, a Compass for Better Experiences" ... UNIST Department of Design to Hold Design Showcase 22 from 7th to 13th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Department of Design at UNIST is hosting the "UNIST Design Showcase 22" exhibition.

Focusing mainly on students' graduation projects, the exhibition aims to present innovative ideas that combine design and engineering through research projects from various labs and class outcomes.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: graduation exhibition, lab projects, and class outcomes. Visitors can see the department's direction and achievements that integrate excellence in design and engineering through science and technology, including human-centered design.

UNIST Design Showcase 22 will be held from the 7th to the 13th on the first floor showroom area (550㎡) of Engineering Buildings 102 to 104. Seven graduates from the Department of Design are participating in this exhibition. The featured students are Taeyoung Ko, Kihan Kim, Hansol Kim, Makida Gebregiorgis Tesfaye, Dongjun Choi, Minji Choi, and Minju Han.

The graduation exhibition carries the theme "Direction," symbolizing the diverse efforts of the seven students toward one "direction" for a "better experience."

The "Lab Project" section introduces nine research labs in the Department of Design and showcases projects conducted in each lab. The "Class Outcomes" section presents the main educational content and results of the Department of Design.

The official opening ceremony of this exhibition will take place at 5 p.m. on the 8th. President Yonghoon Lee of UNIST, along with internal and external distinguished guests, will be invited to introduce and celebrate the educational and research achievements of the Department of Design.

On the 11th, a freshman promotional event organized by the Department of Design student council is scheduled. It will provide an opportunity to experience Ideation, Discussion, and Prototyping, which can be encountered as an undergraduate design student, and will be conducted in a workshop format.

Chair of the Department of Design, Chajung Kim, said, "The UNIST Design Showcase serves as a full stop that reflects what students have learned and experienced so far, as well as a starting point where they can express their beliefs and passion as design practitioners. I hope it becomes a stepping stone for reflecting on past experiences and learning and for a new leap forward."

Professor Kwanmyung Kim of the Department of Design stated, "This showcase exhibits the classes conducted in the Department of Design along with representative outcomes from each lab. I hope it becomes a place to understand the DNA of design that goes beyond aesthetics and merges with technology."

The Design Showcase 22 will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can freely tour the exhibition and receive detailed explanations about the works displayed at each booth.
