[Seoul District News] Dongjak-gu Passes Police Agency Review on 2nd, Aims for Completion by February Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) announced that the 'Installation of Left Turn Signal at Shinsangdo Elementary School Intersection' passed the Police Agency review on the 2nd, marking the first step.
This project is one of Mayor Park Ilha's major campaign promises for Dongjak-gu, actively promoted to improve the inconvenient traffic signal system and establish a user-centered traffic system.
Although installing a left turn signal usually takes more than a year from review to construction completion, the district is conducting the design and construction directly to shorten the period by about half, aiming for completion in February next year.
The location had inconvenience in vehicle traffic as the Shinsangdo underpass was expanded and opened last year, but there was no left turn signal within the section, requiring a long detour.
Accordingly, the district considered installing a left turn signal as a short-term feasible plan reflecting residents' opinions as much as possible and requested a review from the Police Agency.
With this agenda passing the Police Agency review, the district announced it will proceed with construction promptly.
The plan is to complete the design within this year, start construction early next year, and finish by February.
Additionally, ▲ changing the one-way system of the connecting side roads ▲ relocating the crosswalk forward ▲ improving traffic safety signs and road surface markings will be carried out together to enhance smooth traffic flow and safety at the Shinsangdo Elementary School intersection.
Once construction is completed, access to nearby residential areas will become easier, and detour routes will be reduced, resolving traffic inconveniences.
Mayor Park Ilha of Dongjak-gu said, “We expect residents' inconvenience to be alleviated by installing the left turn signal. We will proceed quickly to avoid any inconvenience during the construction period and continue to strive to establish a convenient, resident-centered traffic system.”
