[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do, is recruiting participants and groups for the ‘2022 Jeonnam Tourism Vulnerable Groups Happy Travel Activity Support Project’ until the 11th.

According to the city on the 4th, this project supports travel products worth about 150,000 KRW per person to guarantee the basic tourism rights of low-income and disabled people who usually find it difficult to travel, and to revitalize the local tourism industry.

The total number of recruits is 536, including 472 low-income individuals and 64 disabled persons.

Eligibility requires being registered as a resident in Naju City as of the announcement date, aged 6 or older, and belonging to the tourism vulnerable groups (basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty class). For disabled persons, those with physical (wheelchair users), visual, developmental, or hearing disabilities who are basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class are eligible.

Applications must be submitted by visiting the administrative welfare center with jurisdiction over the applicant’s address by the 11th, after filling out and preparing the application documents posted on the city hall website’s public notice section.

It is principle that the applicant or group representative visits in person, but proxy submission is possible if a power of attorney is prepared.

The Jeonnam Happy Travel products are divided into disabled and low-income sectors.

The disabled sector offers a choice of one tour (selection of 1st to 4th priority is mandatory) between the ‘Yeosu Day Tour’ (Arte Museum, Goso-dong Mural Village, Odongdo, Aqua Planet) and the ‘Mokpo Day Tour’ (Modern History Museum, Natural History Museum, Marine Cable Car, Gohado Pine Forest, Admiral Yi Sun-sin Historic Site).

However, tours are possible only if at least 25 people are recruited per date, and for disabled persons with mobility difficulties, travel expenses for one accompanying person are additionally supported.

The low-income sector consists of the Mokpo and Yeosu day tours, plus ‘Suncheon Healing Tourism’ (Suncheonman National Garden, Ecological Experience Boat, Nagan Eupseong) and ‘Mokpo Taste Tour’ (Marine Cable Car, Samhakdo Cruise, Gatbawi Rock).

Since the schedules vary by travel product, detailed itineraries can be checked in the related announcements posted on the city hall website.

A city official said, “We hope this happy travel project will provide an opportunity for those who have had difficulty traveling to other areas in the province besides Naju due to physical or economic conditions to tour the beautiful Namdo tourist sites and regain vitality in life. We will also do our best to welcome tourists who choose Naju travel products.”
