The first phase of the trail construction project around Idong Reservoir, one of the "Yongin 8 Scenic Spots," has been completed.
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has completed the first phase of the 'Idong Reservoir' trail construction project.
Idong Reservoir, built in 1972, is the largest reservoir in Gyeonggi Province and is also famous for 'Eobinakjo,' one of Yongin's eight scenic views.
Since last year, Yongin City has been promoting a project to create a 13 km walking trail and an environmental ecological park around Idong Reservoir located in Eobi-ri, Idong-eup, in annual and phased stages.
The first phase of the project completed this time covers a 2 km walking path from Songjeon Lespia to the entrance of Songjeon Fishing Site and near the Four Seasons Fishing Site.
The city has secured 500 million KRW in special grants and 1 billion KRW in city funds and plans to start construction next year on a 3 km trail from the entrance of Songjeon Fishing Site.
Furthermore, to ensure the entire project proceeds smoothly by 2026, the city will continuously consult with the Korea Rural Community Corporation, which manages Idong Reservoir, regarding land use and secure national and provincial funding.
A city official stated, "We will sequentially complete the Idong Reservoir trail construction project so that citizens can enjoy the beautiful natural environment."
