Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Expanded by 2.11 Million Pyeong... Chief Choi Sam-ryong Announces '5 Major Innovation Strategies' The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority plans to expand the Daegu Technopolis District by an additional 470,000 pyeong.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-seon] The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority is expanding the free economic zone by an additional 2.11 million pyeong.


On the 3rd, Choi Sam-ryong, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, announced the '5 Major Innovation Strategies' and stated that to proactively and firmly support Daegu's next 50 years, the free economic zone will be expanded from the current 3.17 million pyeong to 5.28 million pyeong, an increase of 2.11 million pyeong.


The plan includes expanding by 140,000 pyeong through changes to the Daegu Suseong Medical District development plan, securing an additional 470,000 pyeong in the Technopolis district, acquiring 500,000 pyeong at the former K-2 base, and securing 1 million pyeong in the area surrounding the new airport relocation site, thereby expanding by 2.11 million pyeong to prepare for Daegu's next 50 years.


Additionally, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority plans to reduce its workforce by 15%, enhance employee expertise, and focus all efforts on attracting investment.


Furthermore, they will hold job fairs in collaboration with companies, universities, and specialized high schools to alleviate the recruitment difficulties of small and medium-sized enterprises and take the lead in creating jobs for youth.


Choi Sam-ryong, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, said, “The Free Economic Zone Authority will lead the revitalization of local industries and firmly support the nurturing of new industries for Daegu’s future through continuous innovation.”
