Samyang Foods Signs MOU for Joint Food and Biotechnology Research with Sogang University At the agreement ceremony held on the 2nd, Kim Jeong-su, Vice Chairman of Samyang Foods (right), and Shim Jong-hyeok, President of Sogang University, are taking a commemorative photo.

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samyang Foods announced on the 3rd that it signed a business agreement on the 2nd to establish a research institute and conduct joint research for industry-academia cooperation with Sogang University.


The main contents of the agreement are ▲ Reconstruction of Sogang University Rich Annex (RA Building) and opening of the research institute ▲ Promotion of joint research in food and biotechnology ▲ Securing applied technology capabilities through the formation of a research network.


Kim Jeong-su, Vice Chairman of Samyang Foods, said, "We signed this agreement with the shared recognition that close collaborative research between industry and academia is necessary for the development of future biotechnology technologies including the food industry," adding, "We will strengthen the research and development capabilities of Samyang Foods and Sogang University to enhance the competitiveness of the national food industry and contribute to public health."


Shim Jong-hyuk, President of Sogang University, stated, "Through this agreement with Samyang Foods, which has a vision for biotechnology as a future core industry and regards social contribution as the cornerstone of corporate management, we will actively conduct joint research and nurture outstanding talent."


Samyang Foods expanded its research center earlier this year to realize the goal of future food research based on sustainable development for social progress, economic growth, and environmental preservation, and plans to focus on future food research and eco-friendly material development fields such as plant tissue protein, microbiome, and functional food materials.
