[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Nambu Fire Station announced on the 2nd that Hwajang-dong Jidong Village has been designated as a 'Fire-Free Safe Village.'
The 'Fire-Free Safe Village' program is conducted annually to provide balanced fire services to rural, fishing villages, and island areas where rapid fire response is difficult, and to distribute residential fire safety equipment to reduce casualties and property damage caused by house fires.
This year, Jidong Village in Hwajang-dong, Nam-gu, designated as a Fire-Free Safe Village, consists of about 50 households. It is located far from the fire station, and most residents are elderly, vulnerable to fire, requiring continuous management.
About 60 people, including firefighters, volunteer firefighters, and residents, attended the event, which included ▲appointment of honorary firefighters for Jidong Village ▲Fire-Free Safe Village plaque ceremony ▲distribution of residential fire safety equipment and safety education.
Kim Haeng-mo, Director of the Prevention and Safety Division, stated, "We will do our best to prevent fires by providing balanced fire services and continuous management in remote areas where rapid response is difficult in case of fire." He added, "We hope for continued interest in strengthening the autonomous management capabilities of village residents."
Meanwhile, the Nambu Fire Station conducted follow-up management such as education and distribution of residential fire safety equipment centered on about 100 households in Osan Village and Deoknam Village.
