Jeju Provincial Council Holds Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Culture, Tourism, and Sports Subdivision

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] The Culture, Tourism, and Sports Committee of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council (Chairperson Lee Seung-a) announced on the 2nd that on the 1st, it held a meeting of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Subcommittee of the Advisory Council at the Council's Assembly Hall, Meeting Room 1, with standing committee council members and advisory committee members in attendance.


This meeting was the first occasion for the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Subcommittee members to meet since the formation of the 12th Advisory Council in early September.


Before the first subcommittee meeting began, they visited the joint memorial altar in the Jeju area over the past weekend to pay tribute to the victims of the Itaewon accident, followed by the subcommittee meeting where a chairperson was elected and the main work status of the relevant fields was reviewed.


Chairperson Lee Seung-a said in her greeting, “Currently, Jeju's culture, tourism, and sports sectors are undergoing rapid changes due to the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, and it is time to seek and consider future directions accordingly. I ask the advisory committee members to come together to prepare policies that can improve the quality of life for residents and sometimes lend their wisdom.”


The Culture, Tourism, and Sports Subcommittee of the Advisory Council will actively participate in council activities by strengthening legislative capabilities through various forums, job training, and field visits to related organizations or facilities, and by making recommendations on current issues, policies, and budgets in their respective fields.


The Culture, Tourism, and Sports Subcommittee of the Advisory Council is composed of a total of seven members, including Lee Soon-sun (Subcommittee Chairperson, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee of the Jeju Regional Council of the National Unification Advisory Council), Kim Min-jung (Deliberation Committee Member of the Jeju City Office of Education School Violence Deliberation Committee), Park In-hyang (Director of Hope Narae Workplace), Lee Chang-jun (Advisor of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Athletics Federation), and Choi Jin-sook (Secretary General of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Social Workers Association).


Meanwhile, the Jeju Provincial Council Advisory Committee is an institution operated under related ordinances to strengthen legislative functions and promote communication with residents through advisory activities on legislative work and policy proposals. Currently, a total of 55 members have been appointed and started activities in seven subcommittees corresponding to each standing committee.
