Guro-gu Hosts '2022 Youth Job Fair' ... Gangbuk-gu Supports Moving Expenses for Youth

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) will hold the ‘2022 Youth Job Fair.’


Guro-gu announced on the 2nd, “The job fair is held to provide employment opportunities to job seekers and help small and medium-sized enterprises resolve recruitment difficulties.”


The job fair will be held for two days on the 25th and 26th at the Guro Youth Space Youth Irum. It is hosted by Guro-gu and Youth Irum, with four related organizations including the Guro Women’s Human Resources Development Center, Sangsanguri, the Venture Business Association, and the Guro-gu Job Center participating.


On the first day, the 25th, a mock interview will be conducted in teams of five at the recruitment hall. Job seekers can have interviews with current professionals in fields such as developers and marketers and receive feedback. Interview specialist consultants will be assigned to provide feedback on resumes, self-introductions, portfolios, and also offer resume photo shooting services.


On the second day, one-on-one practical interviews will be held with companies matched through prior application. Free rental of interview suits will be available, and the promotional hall will provide information on related organizations’ projects and recruitment materials from participating companies.


Guro-gu plans to provide follow-up support such as recruitment activity assistance and job placement for companies that could not hire job seekers or participants who were not employed on the day of the fair by utilizing AI (Artificial Intelligence) and VR (Virtual Reality) interview experience centers.


Any job seeker aged 19 to 39 interested in jobs such as developer, planner, designer, or marketer can participate. Those who wish to join can apply by accessing the Google Form through the Youth Irum website or scanning the QR code on the poster by the 13th.


A Guro-gu official said, “We hope this job fair will be an opportunity to provide good jobs to job seekers and excellent talent to companies,” adding, “We will continue to actively promote job policies that benefit both companies and residents.”


Meanwhile, last year’s job fair saw participation from 32 companies and 239 job seekers, with 43 job seekers being hired.

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Cho Sung-myung) will conduct a relay employment special lecture series for job seekers and workers every Tuesday from November 8 to December 20, totaling seven sessions, both online and in-person.


The lectures are composed of celebrity special lectures and employment special lectures.


First, the celebrity special lectures held in person include ▲On the 8th, Monk Hyeguh (Geumgang Seonwon) will present ‘Stress Relief through 10-Minute Focused Meditation’ and ▲On the 29th, a current Google employee will introduce ‘Global Digital Industry Changes.’


The employment special lectures feature 10 instructors who are current or former employees (experts) of global and large companies, lecturing on job hunting strategies and job analysis. All global company lectures will be conducted online. ▲On the 15th, a current Disney employee will introduce ‘Successful Employment at Global Digital Companies and Management Support Jobs,’ and ▲On the 22nd, a current GE employee will explain ‘Local Hiring Analysis of Global Companies.’


Domestic company lectures include ▲LG Household & Health Care current employee’s ‘Large Company Resume and Self-Introduction Letter Analysis’ (11/15 online), ▲Two current Amorepacific employees’ ‘2022 Beauty Industry Analysis’ (11/22 online) and ‘Beauty Industry and R&D Job Analysis’ (12/6 online), and ▲Kia Motors current employee’s ‘Engineer Job Analysis’ (12/6 online). Developers from rapidly growing platform companies will also serve as instructors. ▲Former Woowa Brothers developer’s ‘SCM Job Analysis’ (12/13 in-person) and ▲Millie’s Library developer’s ‘IT Developer Architect Job Analysis’ (12/13 in-person) are prepared. Additionally, former SK Innovation and former Samsung Electronics HR team members will share vivid practical experiences on large company job hunting strategies (12/20 in-person).


In-person lectures will be held on the first floor of the Gangnam Employment and Startup Hub Center and live-streamed on Gangnam-gu Office’s YouTube channel. Online lectures will be conducted via the Zoom video conferencing app.

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) is set to share secrets for successful entrepreneurship.


The district announced it is recruiting students for the ‘2022 Small Business Startup Academy’ until the 14th.


The Startup Academy is designed to increase the success rate of prospective entrepreneurs and those wishing to change industries by teaching systematic management methods and marketing techniques.


Especially this year, it is expected to provide richer and more useful information to students as it will be held face-to-face for the first time in three years since COVID-19.


The lectures will be held over two days, the 15th and 16th, at the audiovisual room on the 2nd floor of the Heojun Museum, covering practical courses such as ▲Startup preparation procedures and entrepreneurial spirit ▲Commercial district location analysis and utilization ▲Startup tax knowledge for business owners ▲Online marketing.


Instructors include Kim Sung-min, Chairman of the Venture Startup Promotion Cooperative, Kwon Il-jun, CEO of Forwid, and Kim Hyo-shin, CEO of Sonamu Labor Law Office, who will share success secrets through theory, practice, and case studies.


Anyone interested in entrepreneurship can apply online through the Seoul Small Business Academy website by the 14th. However, enrollment is limited to 70 people on a first-come, first-served basis and may close early.


Gangseo-gu Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “Due to recent rapid interest rate hikes and other economic issues, more careful and thorough preparation is required before starting a business,” adding, “We hope the Startup Academy prepared by the district will greatly help small business owners succeed.”

Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) Children and Youth Council held a plenary session on October 29 at 1 p.m. in the Seongbuk-gu Council main chamber, attended by university student mentors and others.


Now in its 9th term, the Seongbuk-gu Children and Youth Council is a participatory organization representing children and youth of Seongbuk-gu, operated by the Seongbuk Youth Culture House. Since the appointment ceremony in April, it has held regular and special meetings monthly, both face-to-face and online, completed children’s rights education three times, and continuously created a platform for agenda discovery and information sharing.


As a result, a total of 10 final agenda items were submitted, including 6 resolutions and 4 ordinance proposals from the Education Welfare Committee, Children’s Rights and Leisure Committee, and Environment and Safety Committee.


Main items include ▲Amendment proposal for Seongbuk-gu Youth Internet (Smartphone) Addiction Prevention Ordinance ▲Expansion amendment proposal for Seongbuk-gu School Route Guardian Operation and Support Ordinance ▲Establishment proposal for Seongbuk-gu Children and Youth Culture Bus Operation Ordinance ▲Establishment proposal for Seongbuk-gu Children and Youth Caffeine Overuse Prevention Ordinance.


The plenary session was led by the Children’s Council Chairperson (Choi Seo-yoon, Jangwi Elementary 6th grade) and Youth Council Chairperson (Hwang Yi-jin, Kkumdeulim), with the three standing committee chairpersons delivering free speeches. Five proposals from the Children’s Council and five from the Youth Council were all passed by majority vote.


Additionally, children and youth toured the Seongbuk-gu Council including standing committee meeting rooms and watched educational videos, experiencing the actual council environment.


Seongbuk-gu Council members Kim Yuk-young, Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee, and Jeong Yun-ju, Chair of the Administrative Planning Committee, along with council members Jin Seon-ah, Kim Kyung-i, Park Young-seop, and Jeong Byung-gi, visited the plenary chamber to extend their welcome.


Kim Yuk-young, Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee, said, “I hope all 10 agenda items prepared for the 9th Children and Youth Council plenary session will yield good results as the members worked hard.”


Jeong Yun-ju, Chair of the Administrative Planning Committee, said, “I hope this occasion will be meaningful for the future of the children and youth council members,” adding, “We will carefully review the proposals from the perspective of children and youth and work with the executive branch to reflect them.”



Guro-gu Hosts '2022 Youth Job Fair' ... Gangbuk-gu Supports Moving Expenses for Youth

Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) is recruiting candidates for the ‘Seoul City Youth Moving Expense Support Project,’ which provides up to 400,000 KRW to youth.


This project is a policy by Seoul City to reduce housing burdens by supporting moving expenses for youth households.


The support target is youth aged 19 to 39. Youth who moved to Seoul City this year or moved within Seoul and completed moving-in registration as of the application date will receive actual expenses up to 400,000 KRW. If the application amount does not exceed 400,000 KRW, brokerage fees can be additionally applied for support.


Applicants must meet income requirements including ▲below 120% of the standard median income ▲rental deposit of 50 million KRW or less and monthly rent of 400,000 KRW or less ▲applicant youth themselves must be non-homeowners.


Non-residential housing such as goshiwon (small room rentals) is also included in the target, and those paying monthly rent exceeding 400,000 KRW can apply if the sum of the monthly rent equivalent of the deposit and the monthly rent is 550,000 KRW or less.


Those wishing to receive support can apply by the 16th through ‘Seoul Youth All Information.’ The city plans to select 5,000 recipients by December and provide moving expense support.


The district has informed local real estate agents, community service centers, nearby universities, and high schools about the project to ensure many youth can benefit.

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is conducting the ‘Child Dental Primary Care Project’ to support dental treatment for vulnerable children and youth.


The ‘Child Dental Primary Care Project’ supports dental treatment costs for vulnerable children and youth under 18 who need dental care, aiming to reduce oral health disparities and improve oral health.


The support targets children and youth residing in Seocho-gu who belong to ▲local children’s centers ▲basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups ▲single-parent families ▲grandparent-headed families.


Children and youth receive services such as ▲oral examinations ▲tooth brushing education ▲fluoride application at public health centers, and can receive ▲sealants ▲scaling ▲cavity treatment ▲root canal and gum treatment at affiliated dental clinics. Non-insurance items such as ▲resin ▲inlay ▲gold crown ▲space maintainers are supported up to 400,000 KRW per person.


Applicants must submit proof documents confirming eligibility to the Seocho-gu Public Health Center Oral Health Office by November 15 (in person or by fax) to register and receive examination and treatment referrals. This project has been implemented annually since 2012, with about 400 beneficiaries receiving preventive care and oral examinations each year.


A 15-year-old boy A, who has used the Child Dental Primary Care Project every year while attending a local children’s center, said, “I used to go to the dentist with the center teachers since I was young. At first, treatment was scary and difficult, but now I am much better and only receive checkups and preventive care.”


Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “We hope this project helps children and youth manage their oral health and we will continue to strive to prepare various projects supporting their health.”
