[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Yeongcheon City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 1st that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held an investment review committee meeting on the 31st of last month and selected the Daegu Metro Line 1 extension project from Hayang to Yeongcheon (Geumho) as a preliminary feasibility study target project.

The Daegu Metro Line 1 extension project from Hayang to Yeongcheon (Geumho) was newly included in the 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan in early July last year. Gyeongbuk Province applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a preliminary feasibility study target project at the end of September, and it was selected at this Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport investment review committee meeting.

The Daegu Line 1 extension from Hayang to Yeongcheon (Geumho) is a project to construct a 5.0 km section with a total project cost of 205.2 billion KRW.

Yeongcheon City expects this project to maximize synergy effects by linking with the opening of Yeongcheon Racecourse Park, Geumho and Daechang Hi-Pass IC, Yeongcheon High-Tech Park district, public development of Geumho General Industrial Complex, and Daechang General Industrial Complex, and especially anticipates a revolutionary improvement in commuting convenience between Daegu, Gyeongsan, and Yeongcheon areas.

In the future, if it passes the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee, a preliminary feasibility study will be conducted.
