On the same day, Prime Minister Han presided over the 'Itaewon Accident Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) meeting' at the Government Seoul Office and said, "Not only the bereaved families who are grieving due to this unfortunate accident, but also many citizens who were at the scene or learned about the news have suffered significant psychological shock."
Prime Minister Han said, "Currently, the National Police Agency is conducting investigations and analyses to clearly determine the cause of the accident," adding, "Based on this, we will prepare measures to thoroughly ensure citizens' safety even at spontaneous group events without organizers." He emphasized, "In this process, we will also explore scientific management techniques together with experts by referring to overseas cases."
Prime Minister Han added, "The damage to young students in this accident was also significant," and said, "We will prepare measures to strengthen safety education, including safety rules in densely crowded places, to ensure that safety education is conducted effectively."
The death toll from this accident has reached a total of 155, with one additional death reported the previous evening, and the number of injured stands at 152.
