[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has selected the winners of the naming contest for urban regeneration hub facilities held throughout September.

The naming contest was conducted for the urban regeneration hub facilities to be established in Muk 2-dong Jangmi Village: the Family Library (tentative name) and the Youth Culture Development Center (tentative name).

The district received a total of about 360 name submissions through this contest. Internally, nine entries were selected in the first round of judging, followed by a resident preference survey, and then a second round of judging involving external experts who considered planning, originality, and friendliness to finally select the grand prize and excellence award winners.

For the Family Library, the winning name was “Haengbok Sobuk,” meaning a space where families gather to enjoy culture and happiness accumulates gently.

Other excellent works included “Kkum Darakbang” (Dream Attic), “Kkomjirak,” and “Seo(ro) Chaeeum” (Filled with Books).

Haengbok Sobuk is scheduled to be completed in March next year. It will be created as a space where Jangmi Village residents can meet, chat, and recharge their vitality, becoming a key leisure space for the recovery of the village community in Jangmi Village.

The Youth Culture Development Center’s grand prize winner was “Cheongnyeon Igado,” which carries the meaning of a solid path ahead for youth, expressing the hope that young people’s creative and entrepreneurial activities will proceed smoothly. Excellence awards went to “Jangmi Village Youth Development Center,” “Jungnang Youth’s Dreams and Strength,” and “Tium Kium Pium” (Sprout, Nurture, Bloom).

Cheongnyeon Igado is scheduled for completion in December. It is expected to serve as a space for youth creation and entrepreneurship, planning and developing various products specialized for Jangmi Village, enhancing the village’s brand value, and revitalizing the local economy.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We thank everyone who sent creative and diverse suggestions that well captured the meaning of the facilities. We will do our best to ensure that the Family Library ‘Haengbok Sobuk’ and the Youth Culture Development Center ‘Cheongnyeon Igado,’ once completed, become spaces where residents can recharge their vitality and where youth creative and entrepreneurial activities thrive, just as their names imply.”

Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that the Yeongdeungpo Youth Architecture School (hereafter Architecture School) will hold a ‘Youth Housing Management Special Lecture’ for young single-person households.

This ‘Youth Housing Management Special Lecture’ was established to help resolve housing issues increasingly faced by young single-person households. The Architecture School plans to provide theoretical housing management education and practical interior design training to youth who have already become independent or are preparing to do so.

The education consists of basic youth housing education (House Hunting A to Z) and home repair and interior design skills training (One-room Decoration A to Z). Trainees will learn how to find a home suited to their characteristics, interpret contracts, handle disputes, and receive housing counseling. They will also systematically learn key skills for decorating living spaces and have the opportunity to practice room decoration hands-on.

The training will be held at the Architecture School from November 14 to November 18, and the tuition is completely free.

Youth interested can download the application form from Ujugwan or the Architecture School website, fill it out, and submit it via email to the person in charge by November 8. Duplicate applications are allowed, and selection will be on a first-come, first-served basis by course.

Additionally, the Architecture School supports youth interested in entrepreneurship by providing startup education and online promotion and marketing consulting, fostering youth technical talent and leading job creation.

For more details, refer to the Architecture School website or contact the Social Economy Division of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office or the Architecture School.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We hope this education will help solve various housing problems faced by youth.
