Support for Operation of Sports Activities at 20 Designated Sports Clubs and 36 Schools
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 28th that they will actively support school sports activities and athletic clubs in various ways based on designated sports clubs to revitalize school physical activities.
The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism operate designated sports clubs in accordance with the enforcement of the Sports Club Act. This year, they held a public contest for the 'Designated Sports Clubs Operating Specialized School Physical Education Programs' and selected 20 locations. The school physical education-linked designated sports clubs will support physical activities at 36 schools from October to February next year.
The 'School Sports Activity Support Type' is implemented by dispatching sports club instructors to schools to support regular physical education classes and after-school sports, or by operating school physical education programs utilizing sports club facilities and instructors. The school athletic club support type provides sports club facilities as training and exchange match venues for school athletic clubs or supports joint training by linking with designated sports club professional athlete teams.
The Ministry of Education plans to discover excellent cases where designated sports clubs and individual schools cooperate to revitalize school physical education activities and expand them nationwide.
Jang Sang-yoon, Vice Minister of Education, said, "We will continue to cooperate with related ministries and organizations so that all students can engage in various physical activities and grow into healthy talents."
