Team Identified Priority Areas for Installing Bicycle-Only Lifts to Promote Bicycle Use in Seoul Wins Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Digital Foundation announced on the 28th that they held an awards ceremony for the Urban Problem Solving Competition using Seoul citizen data at the Seoul Smart City Center.
The competition, hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 26th and organized by Seoul Digital Foundation, selected 50 young participants who underwent public data analysis and utilization training (August to September), the competition (September to October), and presentation evaluations to choose the final outstanding teams. The grand prize (1 team) was awarded to Team 15 (Kim Beom-soon and 2 others), who identified "Priority areas for installing bicycle-only lifts to promote bicycle use in Seoul."
The excellence awards (2 teams) were given to Team Jeong Hyun-yi (Park Jeong-hyun and 2 others), who developed the "Education Disadvantage Index and selected elementary school locations for priority placement of educational programs using this index," and the Debun Trio team (Park Seong-won and 2 others), who proposed an "Action plan based on pre-forecasting of heavy rain damage in Seoul."
The first part of the day included the awards ceremony and presentations of the tasks and achievements by the grand prize and excellence award teams. The second part featured special lectures on "Data Abstraction" and "A Glimpse into Mentors' Work Life" to deepen young participants' understanding of data and assist in career decisions.
Kang Yo-sik, Director of Seoul Digital Foundation, said, "Despite the short period, I sincerely congratulate and thank all participants who actively utilized 'Seoul citizen life data' to strive for a better smart city Seoul," adding, "Based on the various tasks derived from this competition, we will work on foundation projects and research that reflect the demands of young people."
