[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] "The price is less than half of the usual selling price, and since the proceeds are used for good causes, there's no reason not to buy. I'm happily making my purchase."
On the 27th, Daesang Group held the '2022 Love Sharing Bazaar' at the headquarters plaza in Inui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. This event was the first bazaar held since Daesang relocated its headquarters to the new Jongno building last November. About 200 representative brand products from Daesang Group, including Cheongjeongwon, Jongga, Daesang Wellife MyMeal, 1109 Labs, and Daesang F&B Bokumjari, were sold at discounts of up to 75% compared to consumer prices.
Since 2006, Daesang Group has been hosting the Love Sharing Bazaar to alleviate the financial burden of local residents and to carry out public interest activities linked with the local community. The proceeds and remaining items from this bazaar, which resumed after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19 since 2019, will be fully donated to the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, the Korea National Council on Social Welfare, and nationwide food banks.
Na Gwangju, head of Daesang ESG Management Office, said, "Although COVID-19 has not been completely eradicated, we held the event again after three years to deliver warmth to the marginalized around us. We expanded the scale of the event compared to before, doubled the number of participants within the company, and prepared about 2,000 boxes of products, which is more than before."

In addition to Daesang employees, about 150 volunteers from the Cheongjeongwon Housewives Volunteer Group and residents of Biam-ri Village also participated in the event. Han Myeongsook, head of the Cheongjeongwon Housewives Volunteer Group, said, "The volunteer group has been established for 10 years and participates in the event every year. Since it has been a while, and the venue changed and the scale increased, the foot traffic seems to have increased, resulting in the best response so far." She added, "I expect great results this year as we can deliver even warmer hearts."
The visitors' response was also enthusiastic. The bazaar was crowded with visitors from the start at 10 a.m. Ms. Jung Youngok, in her 60s from Donam-dong, Seoul, said, "I came with two friends, and each of us spent 100,000 won, but I think we bought about 300,000 won worth of products, so I feel good. Since it is an event with a good cause and I usually trust and buy Cheongjeongwon products a lot, I thought it was a good opportunity and came from far away."
Visitors who brought suitcases were also easily spotted at the venue. Lee Seonghun, in his 20s from Geumho-dong, Seoul, said, "I often eat home meal replacement (HMR) products because they are convenient and taste good, but sometimes the price is a burden. Since they don't spoil quickly, I thought I could buy a lot when they are cheap and eat them later, so I even brought a suitcase."
Daesang plans to continue various social contribution activities with Jongno local residents starting with this bazaar. A Daesang Group official emphasized, "The Love Sharing Bazaar, now in its 17th year, is a representative local community public interest activity of Daesang Group. We will continue to prepare various social contribution activities that can be done with the residents of Jongno, where the new headquarters is located."
