Chungkang College of Cultural Industries Launches Personal Mobility Device (Electric Kickboard) Safe Driving Campaign

Chungkang College of Cultural Industries (President Hwang Bong-seong, hereinafter Chungkang College) conducted a personal mobility device (commonly known as electric scooter) safety driving campaign from Tuesday, October 25 to Wednesday, October 26. Chungkang College stated that as face-to-face classes expanded from the second semester, the frequency of personal mobility device use on campus has increased, and safety accidents have frequently occurred in the local community, prompting this campaign.

Since 2021, Chungkang College has established the to create a safe and convenient environment for the use of personal mobility devices on campus and to strengthen safety management such as prompt relief for victims in case of accidents. This regulation has been implemented along with a personal mobility device registration system.

The campaign was jointly conducted mainly by Chungkang College’s Student Affairs Office, Education Support Office, and student self-governing bodies, with on-site support from the Icheon Police Station and Majang Police Substation. The campaign explained the safety management system operated by the university to enrolled students who use personal mobility devices to commute to school, emphasizing the mandatory wearing of safety helmets and recommending the use of wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, and other protective equipment.

In particular, the Icheon Police Station, which provided on-site support, supplied personal mobility device-specific safety helmets to students using electric scooters encountered during the campaign, and some helmets will be provided to students visiting the Student Affairs Office to apply for device registration.

Professor Jeon Hye-jeong, head of the Student Affairs Office at Chungkang College, explained, “This safety driving campaign was prepared to further promote the personal mobility device safety management system on campus and to raise students’ awareness of safety accidents. We are carefully monitoring all safety-related matters that may occur during students’ school life.”
