On the 25th, Donggurami Foundation announced the selection of 10 teams advancing to the finals of the 2022 O-Prize: Good Mobility contest and launched a public support event.

O-Prize is an open innovation platform launched in 2018 to publicly solicit ideas that solve social problems and support the implementation process of solutions. This year, ideas were solicited from August 10 to September 30 under the themes of ‘Disability + Mobility’ to enhance mobility convenience for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and the elderly, and a ‘Free Theme.’

A total of 250 teams competed in this contest, with 85 teams under the Disability + Mobility theme and 165 teams under the Free Theme. The O-Prize judging panel selected 10 teams in the first round based on evaluation criteria such as innovativeness, feasibility, and impact.

The finalist teams include △ , which proposed an optimal navigation system considering all issues arising during travel for people with disabilities, △ a team proposing an indoor sound and voice AI recognition notification system for the hearing impaired, △ , which proposed a cognitive function check and Alzheimer’s disease matching app based on daily habit data, △ , which proposed a digital life legacy storage platform, among others. From the 25th to October 8, O-Prize’s official SNS will host a ‘Public Support Event’ introducing the finalist teams and their ideas. Leaving a comment with the name of the team you support enters you into a drawing to win a BBQ gifticon for 15 people and a Starbucks gifticon for 10 people.

Each of the 10 finalist teams will receive 2 million KRW in idea development support funds. On October 29, they will submit their developed ideas/solutions after a coaching workshop with theme-related experts, veteran VCs, and AC (accelerator) mentors. Subsequently, on November 9, a demo day competition will award the grand prize (one team) up to 50 million KRW, the excellence award (one team) up to 10 million KRW, and the merit award (three teams) up to 3 million KRW each. Prize money and awards may be adjusted based on the solution evaluation results.

Chairman Kwon Chi-jung of Donggurami Foundation said, “I hope the ideas of the finalist teams will develop into practical solutions to social problems through the coaching workshop and demo day, and I ask the public to show great interest through their support.”

Information about the finalist teams and event details can be found on the O-Prize website.
