[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Oditech is showing strength amid Samsung Group's accelerated efforts in the automotive electronic components business. Oditech is known to have developed the Zener diode, an essential component of LEDs, for the first time in Korea and supplies it exclusively to Samsung.
As of 10:42 AM on the 24th, Oditech is trading at 4,375 KRW, up 135 KRW (3.18%) compared to the previous trading day.
According to industry sources, Samsung Global Research (formerly Samsung Economic Research Institute), Samsung Group's think tank, recently established a new team related to the automotive electronics business and is increasing its research personnel. This team is expected to conduct research related to complete vehicles, including electric vehicles, and automotive electronic components.
This is the first time Samsung Global Research has created a team focused on complete vehicles and automotive electronics, which is interpreted as Samsung Group promoting the automotive electronics sector as a future growth business.
Meanwhile, Oditech produces optical sensor components for automotive electronics. It also holds more than 90% of the domestic market share for Zener diodes, a core component of LEDs, and is known to supply Samsung, LG, and others.
