Support for Attracting Members from 14 Business Sites in 11 Countries under SK Inno and Its Subsidiaries

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] SK Innovation announced on the 23rd that its global employees working around the world are carrying out activities to support the bid for the ‘2030 Busan World Expo (Expo).’


SK Innovation, along with its eight subsidiaries including SK Energy, SK Geocentric, SK On, SK Lubricants, SK IE Technology, SK Incheon Petrochem, SK Trading International, and SK Earth On, is engaged in activities to support the Expo bid and recently delivered promotional materials for the bid to its global workplaces.


Based on this, employees working at 14 business sites in 11 countries including Vietnam, Singapore, China, the Netherlands, Spain, France, and Peru have sent messages and photos cheering for Busan.


Katarzyna Lubas, who works at SK IE Technology’s Poland branch (SKBMP), recalled her visit to Busan, saying, “Gwangalli Beach was a lovely place, and hearing the Gyeongsang-do dialect sparked my interest in the Korean language,” and added, “I hope Busan will host the Expo in 2030 so I can visit again.”


Tran Quang Dat from SK Earth On’s Ho Chi Minh City office in Vietnam said, “When I visited Busan a few years ago, I was deeply impressed by the blend of modern architecture and tradition,” and added, “I believe Busan will successfully host the event and show the world a ‘Better Future,’ just like the Expo’s main theme.”

Korean employees working together overseas also expressed their support. Na-young Kim, a PM working in Hungary under SK On, said, “I was born and raised in Busan and am currently working in Hungary,” and added, “I will do my best to promote the Busan Expo bid so that it can be supported not only in Hungary but throughout Europe.”


In addition, employees from SK Functional Polymer (France), a subsidiary of SK Geocentric, SK Primaco Europe (Madrid and Tarragona, Spain), and the China branch participated in the support activities. SK Lubricants’ employees in India and the Netherlands also joined in. The Poland branch of SK IE Technology, SK Trading International’s Singapore branch, and SK Earth On’s Lima office in Peru, Shenzhen office in China, and Kuala Lumpur office in Malaysia also conveyed their hopes for the Expo bid.


SK Innovation’s support activities for the Busan Expo bid began with encouragement from Kim Jun, Vice Chairman of SK Innovation. Vice Chairman Kim conveyed the message to key executives of subsidiaries that SK Innovation affiliates should contribute to supporting the Expo bid, and each company has appointed persons in charge and started activities. An SK Innovation official said, “SK Innovation affiliates worldwide are united in their support for the Busan Expo bid.”
