Gyeongbuk Gumi and Bac Ninh, Vietnam Sign Future Cooperation Friendship City Agreement... Korea-Vietnam 30th Anniversary Economic Exchange Meeting Gumi City and Bac Ninh City are holding a sister city agreement ceremony.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Gumi City and Bac Ninh City, representative industrial and economic cities of South Korea and Vietnam, have formed a sister city relationship.


The two cities signed a sister city agreement to build a future-oriented global network and expand the base of exchanges, and held an economic exchange meeting to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Korea-Vietnam diplomatic relations.


During his visit to Vietnam, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho signed the sister city agreement to promote exchange and cooperation between Gumi and Bac Ninh at Bac Ninh City Hall on the 19th, attended by more than 40 people including Bac Ninh Mayor Nguyen Song Ha, First Secretary Lee Hong-seok of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, Yoon Jae-ho, Chairman of the Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Gumi City Council members Kim Young-gil and Kim Chun-nam.


On the 20th, he visited the Bac Ninh Provincial Office and met with Bac Ninh Provincial Governor Nguyen Huong Giang to exchange opinions on regional exchange and cooperation. He also held an economic exchange meeting between the two cities at the Grand Phoenix Hotel, attended by about 60 people including the Bac Ninh Provincial Governor, local government senior officials, representatives of Gumi companies operating locally, the Vietnam-dispatched trade delegation, and officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam.


This exchange meeting, planned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Korea-Vietnam diplomatic relations, shared introductions of the two cities, local industries, companies, and economic status, and presented success cases of local companies, agreeing to jointly respond to internal and external economic crises and rapidly changing industrial trends.


Bac Ninh Mayor Nguyen Song Ha said, “Through the sister city relationship with Gumi City, which is emerging as a leading city in semiconductors, metaverse, and defense technology based on world-class ICT capabilities, we hope to respond together in this era of ultra-gap technology.”


Bac Ninh Provincial Governor Nguyen Huong Giang said, “We are pleased to establish an international partnership with Gumi City, which hosts the national industrial complex that has led South Korea’s economic and industrial development and has accumulated various corporate support policies for over half a century.”


Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Taking the sister city agreement signing and the economic exchange meeting as an opportunity, let us strengthen exchange and cooperation based on common goals between Bac Ninh, which is promoting various corporate support policies through bold administrative procedure reforms, and Gumi City, which is advancing the ‘K-Manufacturing Industry Renaissance Project.’”


On the 21st, Mayor Kim met with Oh Young-joo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam, and Lee Jong-seop, Head of the Southeast Asia Headquarters of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), encouraged company officials who are promoting market expansion beyond the domestic market through a Vietnam economic trend seminar and a meeting with the Gumi trade delegation dispatched to Vietnam, and then departed for home.
