[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Silla University and the National Assembly Library have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to mutually cooperate for the establishment of a shared foundation for national academic information and the balanced regional development of knowledge culture.
The signing ceremony was held at 11 a.m. on the 20th in the Silla University President's Reception Room, attended by key figures from both sides including Silla University President Kim Chung-seok, Vice President Kim Byung-gi, National Assembly Library Director Lee Myung-woo, and Busan National Assembly Library Director Hyun Eun-hee.
Through the MOU, the two institutions agreed to cooperate in ▲ sharing held academic information and researcher information ▲ jointly building and utilizing converged data ▲ jointly developing educational and cultural programs and content and providing them to the local community ▲ fostering outstanding local talents and academic research activities.
Taking this agreement as an opportunity, the National Assembly Library will actively establish a foundation for sharing national academic information by supporting all matters related to sharing academic and researcher information, creating information services for joint construction and utilization of converged data, and fostering talent and field training.
Silla University will share held academic information and researcher information and expand the development and operation of educational and cultural content through advisory, research, and practical activities involving faculty and enrolled students, leading to the improvement of education and cultural standards for regional development.
Cha Seong-jong, head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Silla University, said, “Silla University will enhance the quality of university education by jointly utilizing national academic information resources with the National Assembly Library,” and added, “We hope this agreement will become a new digital-based cooperation model of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era that jointly builds and utilizes converged data in the library field.”
The Department of Library and Information Science at Silla University was the first department majoring in library and information science among universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) region.
Based on over 40 years of history and tradition, the department has fostered information curators leading the digital revolution of the knowledge-based society through a faculty with rich practical experience and a curriculum focused on field practice.
In the 2021 academic year, the department produced 10 successful candidates in the elementary and secondary school librarian teacher certification exam, achieving the highest number of successful candidates in the Bu-Ul-Gyeong region.
