[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that the ‘Baekyang Maple Festival’ will be held at Baekyangsa Temple from the 29th to the 30th.
Under the theme “A Gift from Autumn ? Colorful Baby Maple,” this festival is attracting attention as it resumes after a long 4-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Baekyangsa, a thousand-year-old temple, is a nationally renowned historic site, and the temple scenery surrounded by Baekamsan Mountain, which boasts breathtaking views comparable to those abroad, leaves a lasting impression.
All four seasons are beautiful, but many consider the autumn when the maple leaves turn red to be the best.
The maple leaves at Baekyangsa are small and beautifully colored, earning them the name “Baby Maple.” The Baekyang Maple Festival, now in its 23rd year, is held at the end of this month when the foliage is at its peak, and many visitors are expected.
Against the backdrop of Baekamsan Mountain in full autumn splendor, various performances, art exhibitions, and hands-on events will be prepared.
Baekyangsa, boasting over 1,000 years of history, is also an unmissable sightseeing course. Attractions include Geungnakbojeon Hall built by Hwanyang Seonsa, the Gobulmae plum tree designated as a natural monument, and the Bija tree forest.
A county official said, “We hope everyone will fully enjoy the deepening autumn atmosphere at the Baekyang Maple Festival, which will beautifully decorate the last weekend of this month.”
